I highly recommend “A Little Death by Donna Barr! This adult-oriented (subject matter and some nudity) graphic novel is a brilliant cooperative effort teaming Ms. Barr as artist and editor and dozens of de facto writers, women and men who responded when Ms. Barr asked how they feared to, wanted to and/or hoped to die. It's about death, it's strong stuff. It's about how we feel and think about death be it our own, that of a loved one, or celebrities, it's intimate stuff. But is it ponderous or tedious? NO!!! Not only are there many ways of shuffling off this mortal coil, but Ms. Barr handles individual contributions with varying approaches. Some are subtle, some are sensitive, lots have humor, and some very much have a “Oh, yeah? That's how you THINK you want it?” take to them.Donna Barr's artwork is beautiful, clean, realistic, vivid, kicky, and expressive. Each contribution gets one or two pages of this devotion. Contributors' privacy is protected by having their names, ages, occupations, and ethnicities changed.

It's such a simple, elegant idea round up dozens of normal, everyday folks and ask them "How would you prefer to die?" or, alternatively, "What death(s) do you NOT want to die?" Then turn the responses into comics panels.
The whole topic of Death is one from which many people tend to shy away. We're all going to get our trip through the One-Way Door, and Donna Barr takes a bold stance and looks Death straight in the eye. This book doesn't flinch, doesn't pull punches, and doesn't look away. You'll be enthralled.
This book is a page-turner (one person's story makes you eager for the next one), but you won't want to rush through it. You'll want to savor the artwork on every page. Donna Barr is one of the undisputed greats of the comics genre, and the execution is as masterful as the concept itself is simple.
I can't claim to be totally impartial (I helped gather some of the stories for this book), but I can claim to be totally impressed. You need this book.
